![]() Bach trumpets were inspired (or copied) from early Besson trumpets, and most modern trumpets closely follow the same pattern. The innovations in leadpipe design, bell shape, and wrap (the overall shape of the tubing and instrument) resulted in a far superior instrument to the trumpets of the day. ![]() The Besson trumpets of the early 20th century were the first truly modern trumpets. The horn is not shipped with a mouthpiece. It also has a bit of a musty smell that I am trying to get out. The latches are quite rusty and should be replaced. The horn comes with original Besson case which is in excellent shape other than the hardware. My goal is to find the same horn in silverplate. The only reason I am selling the horn is that I have developed an allergy to various metals and this horn is bothering me - I do not have the same issues with silverplate horns. Valves move freely but the 3rd valve is a bit louder than the other 2 valves - i think that it needs new springs. It does have lacquer loss in places - most prevalent on the 2nd valve slide and around the 3rd valve dump slide. Horn has no large dings or dents - just a couple of micro dents as noted in pictures. ![]() Serial number 2085 dates it back to 1982-1983 - horns under 2500 are reputed to be expertly and meticulously crafted.
